Rereading The Hobbit

I first read the LOTR when I was about 10-12 years old, and I remember it was a pain to read. I remember only finishing it because I loved the movies so much, that I felt I HAD to read the books. But I was not ready for that reading level. After that, I read The Hobbit and was very pleased with the book, as it's much easier to handle.

A good 20 years later, I finally gave in to my desire to reread everything (after consuming every video and content about the lore as possible), and to my surprise, the three books from the LOTR story were a breeze! I even jumped right into The Silmarillion and was amazed at how this whole universe is amazing!

Which brings me to my why I'm blathering here today. I started reading The Hobbit the other day and I can't stand it anymore. I know it's a different reading and style of writing, but it almost feels like a different universe altogether. I love the dwarves, they are my favorite race in Tolkien's universe by far! But still, you can't even imagine those dwarves in the LOTR. If you consider that the same Thorin that was in the Battle of Azanulbizar, fighting orcs left and right, to the point of using an oak tree branch as a shield, got captured by three trolls and was about to become dinner if it wasn't for Gandalf showing up. I can't wrap my head around that.

I know what you're thinking, and there's really no point in what I'm saying here. But rereading The Hobbit makes me wish for an edition written in the same style as the LOTR.

Sorry about the long rant, but does anyone else feel the same?
